FAQs

Question #1: Are your caregivers CNA’s (Certified Nursing Assistants)?

Answer: Many of our caregivers are CNA’s or have other credentials. However, we feel that it is even more important that all of our caregivers be experienced. Many other agencies will "train" caregivers by showing them videos; we require that every one of our Visiting Angels caregivers have at least 3 years of local verifiable experience, and excellent references.

Question #2: Will I get to meet the caregiver first?

Answer: Yes! We feel that it is absolutely essential that your caregiver be someone that you feel completely comfortable with. We will introduce you to a caregiver whose skills and personality we feel would be a good fit, and give you the opportunity to select your caregiver after a personal interview.

Question #3: Are there minimum hours of service required?

Answer: Yes, we have minimum hours required. Minimums are very helpful in providing quality, consistent care to our clients, a consistent schedule leads to consistent care. Our current minimum is four hours per shift, and twelve hours per week.

Question #4: Does insurance pay for your service?

Answer: In most cases, our clients pay privately for our services. If the Client has Long Term Care (LTC) Insurance, that policy will pay for our services. All LTC benefits are unique (deductibles, waiting periods, maximums, etc), so contact your LTC provider to verify your policy’s benefits. Medicare does not cover caregiving services.

Question #5: Are your services tax-deductible?

Answer: Eldercare is considered dependent care (similar to childcare). Contact your accountant for more information on requirements and deduction limits.

Question #6: How do we get started?

Answer: It is important that we meet prior to the initiation of services to ensure that we fully understand your needs and are prepared to assist you. Each family’s situation is unique. Our clients come to us with a wide variety of situations and diagnoses. We have experience working with many conditions including:

  • After-Stroke
